2013 has been a bit of a funny year for me. And I don’t mean funny haha, more of a year of vicious twists that, 12 months ago, were totally unimaginable.
At the start of the year all sorts of plans were in place, virtually none of which have come to fruition. Even early in the year things were starting to go wrong and by the end of February the main reason became very apparent. Most of the rest of the year has been spent coping with the fallout from a diagnosis of Cancer. Not very many instruments have been built, and of those that have, some have subsequently been scrapped!
However, now that I’m feeling so much better than the majority of the year instruments are now getting made without disasters, as can be seen on this page. The new workshop has allowed room for a couple of additions, in the form of early Christmas presents, that will improve both accuracy and efficiency.
The premises are proving to be a great move with more than enough space for everything and getting first pick of the timbers coming into Bruk’s Tree Surgery is another exciting aspect. Despite being slightly ‘out in the sticks’, folks are managing to find us fairly easily and is another concern that has been allayed.
So, all in all, I’m looking forward to the new year with a lot more confidence than looking back at the one that is just concluding. Hopefully we’ll make it to a few festivals in the next 12 months as well, and I’m planning a new look to the website, so watch this space.
In the meantime, here’s wishing you all a happy and joyous festive season and I look forward to meeting many more of you in 2014.
