Smugglers Festival

The weekend was spent at the excellent Smugglers Festival, held in a field somewhere between Deal and Dover (It took me one and a half hours to find it, and I knew where it was being held!!) The feedback we got was little short of amazing, with a constant stream of compliments about our ‘beautiful’ instruments. The most interest, throughout the weekend, was heaped on the Q-Bass Ukulele that is based on the Cuatro body developed for the Penguin Cafe Orchestra members Geoffery ¬†and Jennifer.

That is not to say that the others got ignored though, and every instrument got ‘tested’ extensively. Two tenors, fitted with different strings (Aquila and Living Waters) did plenty of demonstrations as to differences in tone, while each of the four sizes again (Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone) gave plenty to compare. Alongside, for something completely different, was a Cuatro whose tuning raised a few eyebrows.

Many thanks to all who came along, and I hope we answered all your questions to your satisfaction. :)

If not, pop along to the unit and we’ll see what we can do for you. We are already looking forward to next year’s Festival.
